Some of you might remember, a few weeks ago I mentioned about getting to see Gurmit Singh at the Boys' Brigade 10th Kuala Lumpur Company of Sri Sempurna's 10th Anniversary. The event was last night, but have only found time to cover it now ^^; Sorry for the delay.

(All times are in PM)
I did tell you it was their 10th anniversary, but what I didn't tell you is that it's a sit-in dinner. The event was supposed to start at 6:30, and got there around 6:15, but most guests had not arrived yet.

The table setup was pretty normal, except each guest got a travel mug.. More on that later.

A booklet containing their program and information of 10th KL company and related stuff. The theme for the night was "10 times better"Hung around, greeted a couple of friends, and at 6:35, they started to settle down the guests.

Five minutes later, the BB members start marching in to begin the event. Here they are surrounding the tables as part of the procession.

A presentation by some of the BB members. As you can see, my seat was pretty far away from the stage. orz
A video presentation. They played the wrong music at first, so it was like watching a horror movie (According to a friend, the music was from War of the Worlds...)They served both water and Jasmine tea, but most of the waiters would fill the cup of Jasmine tea right to its brim, making it a little hard to drink. ^^;

Two speeches later, it's a presentation by the kids (juniors) of BB.
At 7:26, the first dish arrives- This is called the "Four Hot & Cold Season Combination."

Not too long after, we have "Braised Prawns with Crabmeat Soup."

Soon, Gurmit Singh and Clement Chow (Christian Singaporean singer) are invited to take the stage.

Gurmit explains that he's here to make us happy, and so that while we're happy, we'll "unconciously" give more to BB (more on that later in the post). So to make us happy, he plays a couple of games with us.
In the first game, he chose a few people to come up on-stage. Those people then have to answer a question each, and if they answer correctly, they win a prize (which I think is a T-shirt).
Gurmit started asking questions like, "How are you?" To which the person replied, "I am fine" and Gurmit immediately went, "CORRECT!" ^^;
Other questions were, "What's your name? How do you spell it?", "What's his name?"
Before Gurmit started his second game, the next dish arrived- "Deep Fried Boneless Chicken with Lemon Sauce."

Gurmit and Clement didn't stop to eat (or let us eat), however, and just continued on with the next game.
Each table had to pick one representative. The other young people on my table pretty much refused to be the one, so I took the initiative. But quickly got nervous, and was shaking pretty badly ^^;
Here's how the game went- Gurmit would name an item, and where he wants it on the representative's body. After he names the last item on his list (he told the items one at a time), the first 10 representatives to run up stage, and sit on one of the 10 chairs there, would win a prize (once again, T-shirt).
Here are the items we needed to collect:
First, a 10 ringgit bill in the mouth.
Second, a pair of socks tied around the neck.
Third - balanced on the right cheek, left cheek, forehead and chin - four kiss marks (got mine from my mom. Too bad there weren't any girls my age on the table...).
Fourth, a lady's high heel on my right foot.
Lastly, 10 hairs held in my right hand which had to be doing the OK sign.
Managed to do everything, but couldn't get on stage in time, since my table was too far away. orz
After that second game, there was a break. Then the next dish arrived - "Steamed River Patin with Soya Sauce"

About 20 minutes later, a presentation is going on. Some of the BB guys, however, are happily playing with their NDS.

What they were presenting was the funds they needed to raise for the future of BB and the related Rumah Charis, a non-profit Christian organization that offers social services. Gurmit and Clement helped to sell off all the necessary lots, and presented lots of mock cheques ^^;

After all the lots were sold, there was another break. At this point, I was running low on (phone) battery already, so I couldn't afford to take much more pictures.
The next dish - "Deep Fried Crispy Buttered Prawns"

As Gurmit returned to play a game with the kids, the next dish arrived- "Loh Hon Chai." (Fried mixed vegetables)

Though the event was set to end at 10:15 (according to the schedule in the booklet), at 10:05, Gurmit started his third game.
Under 70 random chairs, there's a piece of paper with an animal's name on it. There are 10 of each animal, and they must group together. The first animal to group all 10 members the fastest wins a prize (more T-shirts). The catch is, you can only make the sound of the animal, and cannot "speak human." This game was slightly ruined, since not everyone bothered to look under their chair/were too shy to play.
The first group to gather, the ducks, were mostly male (LOL. A little Chinese joke here ^^;).
After that game, Gurmit and Clement began an auction began for a painting. The starting price was around RM1,500, and ended at RM8,888. After Gurmit proudly declared, "SOLD!", he said, "So for RM8,888, the easel stand has been sold to this gentleman.."
He was just joking, of course.
When Gurmit finished, it was 10:22, and they decided to cut the cake. I left for the toilet at this part, so don't know what happened. ^^;
When I got back, Gurmit and Clement were going to sing a song. According to Gurmit, he was born to sing, since his name is Gurmit Singh.
The last dish arrives- "Yong Chow Fried Rice with Chicken Meat and Anchovies." But the lights were turned off, so couldn't get a good picture at all.

At this point (10:39), my phone battery dies. Didn't think of a backup plan on how to keep record of the following events, but managed to still managed to salvage the situation and record everything.
As some important person came up and gave the closing speech, dessert arrived- "Chilled Longan with Sea Coconut." This picture was taken with my brother's phone..

After the closing speech, the BB members sang a few songs, and it was over. It was 11:01, and well past time to go home.
I'm not done yet though- here's the mug:

BTW- a couple of Datuks played the games as well xD

I wanted to use my dad's camera to take the pictures, but found out too late that there were no usable batteries available. orz
Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed the event. Gurmit was as funny as ever, and his singing was very good. Oh- and the food was great ^^
