Ending Theme Song 5 Centimeters Per Second
March 25, 2011
Top Ten OST Tracks
The song opens up beautifully, and makes me think of dark theatres and single spotlights on girls in long black dresses. Which is interesting, considering the character who sang it did not wear long black dresses—I believe she wore white dresses, and also little sailor boy clothes (← that was kinda weird). Yes, this is in fact Diva's song from Blood+, so it was only played if the character was singing it herself. And as much as it's certainly beautiful when you don't know the context, it takes on an extreme creepy factor when you put it inside of its own story.
Studio Key, in most of their creations, seem to have a penchant for using songs performed by ladies with absolutely gorgeous voices. Clannad certainly wasn't an exception, and it was hard for me to choose which Clannad piece was my favorite, but Kage Futatsu won.
The first time I heard this song it brought tears to my eyes and it had nothing to do with what was going on in the anime at the time. That voice...it's so pretty, so soft. And I have a weak spot for Latin in music (Carmina Burana anyone?). Then I looked up the lyrics translation and somehow that made it even better. Even just the first line:
This song...I can't explain what makes it so good, it's kind of just a matter of, wow, this song is good. I love the way the music all works together—I feel like if I picked it apart, each separate sound would work fine on its own, but hearing them all right atop each other the way Takanashi did it lovely.
L himself made my top guys ten list, as number two, as you may have seen. Well here's another thing about L that's pretty awesome: he also has amazing themes. In fact, just that he has two themes is pretty freaking awesome. His second theme gets to be number five on my list.
I mentioned Lia, didn't I? Well, of course she was going to make this list somewhere. I think she's also on another one somewhere, but that's beside the point. This song.
Composer: Yoshihisa Hirano
I couldn't help it, Shiki had to be on this list again. It has one of my favorite OSTs of all time, for sure. This song is so amazing it distracted the hell out of me during the series. It didn't matter if something was going down, if I was mourning over a recently lost character (much as I knew better than to get attached to anyone from the very beginning, there were still a few people I felt mildly sad over) this song...as soon as it started playing, I started fangirling.
Composer: Yasuharu Takanashi
So there's my top ten OSTs/insert tracks. That was fun.

AMV Bleach: Orihime Leaves
Look the Sen No Yoru Wo Koete (English) lyrics, you will be understood why this AMV is very cool and good idea I think.
AMV Bleach: Orihime Leaves
Sen No Yoru Wo Koete (English) Lyrics
I want to be loved, but you don’t seem to love me
I wander within that repetition
I found one answer; that even if I’m scared, even if I’m hurt
I can say “I love you” to the person who I love
Do you love me? Or not love me?
As for things like that, it’s already fine either way
No matter how I wish
There are many unchangeable things in this world, right?
That’s right, and because only the fact of my loving you
Is the truth unchangeable by anyone
I want to overcome the thousands of nights and tell it to you
There’s something that I must tell you
I want to be loved, but you don’t seem to love me
I wander within that repetition
I found one answer; that even if I’m scared
Even if I’m hurt, I can say “I love you” to the person who I love
It’s scary to turn my feelings into words
But I can say “I love you” to the person who I love
In this broad world, I can’t express the joy of encountering you with words
So we smile, sing about the vividly passing autumn in do-re-mi
Turn our backs on winter, wait for the sunlight streaming through trees in spring
And become reborn anew, so that we can protect someone
On the path we came from and our destination, when we looked back, I’d always have timid eyes
I want to face you, but I can’t be honest
I, who repeated days of not being able to straightforwardly love my partner
And hated being alone on that day
Seemed to love people while unwounded
I’ll overcome the thousands of nights and go meet you now
There is something that I must tell you
I want to be loved, but you don’t seem to love me
I wander within that repetition
I found one answer; that even if I’m scared
Even if I’m hurt, I can say “I love you” to the person who I love
Even if those thoughts aren’t fulfilled, I can say “I love you” to the person who I love

Soul Eater ED3 Single - Bakusou Yumeuta

A maxi single by Diggy-MO', 「Bakusou Yumeuta」, was released on 28th November. This single contains the third ED of Soul Eater.
The first track, 「Bakusou Yumeuta」, is a bit of light J-Rap. Among the three songs, this track is my favorite. There is a nice background melody, and Diggy-MO's rapping is awesome!
Romaji lyrics for TV Size 「Bakusou Yumeuta」 here.

The second song, 「CHALLENGER」, is fast-paced, and personally, I am not too keen on this song. It is okay, but it's not a song I'd want to listen to the whole day.
Also, half of the song is in English.

「UNCHAIN」, the last song, also has rapping, but is also heavy on the techno side. There are some parts where his voice is distorted, and I think the voice distortion doesn't go very well with the overall flow of the song. This song is more on the "fail" side for me. :\
Here's the third ED to Soul Eater.
Full versions of the songs below.

CLANNAD ~After Story~ OP ED Single - Toki wo Kizamu Uta

5 days ago, the single 「Toki wo Kizamu Uta」 was released.
The single contains two songs, 「Toki wo Kizamu Uta」 and 「TORCH」. Both songs are sung by Lia, and they are the OP and ED (respectively) of CLANNAD ~After Story~.
The first song, 「Toki wo Kizamu Uta」, gives off a feel very similar to 「Megumeru ~cuckool mix 2007~」. The song has a nice melody, but I am, for some reason, finding it a little.. flat. While it is supposed to be a sad song, I personally do not feel that sad mood. IMO, this song doesn't deliver.
Either that, or there's something wrong with my ears. :\
Anyway, here's the CLANNAD ~AS~ opening:
Lyrics to 「Toki wo Kizamu Uta」 here.
The second song, 「TORCH」, on the other hand, is a win in my books. It's a happy, upbeat tune, and is pretty catchy.
While I do think it's great as a song in itself, I do have one problem with it, as a song in regards to CLANNAD ~AS~. One of the genres of the CLANNAD series is drama, and so once a sad episode ends, this happy song plays, and it kinda ruins the mood.
Regardless, here is the ending of CLANNAD ~After Story~
Lyrics to 「TORCH」 here.
Which of Lia's songs do you prefer?
You can listen to the full versions of both songs below.

Macross Frontier Original Soundtrack 3 - Nyan Tama♀

Those who watched Macross Frontier, or follow the Macross series would know that it is all about the power of songs. Even after releasing two soundtracks (Nyan Furo and Nyan Tora), Macross Frontier will be getting a third soundtrack. This will be titled "Nyan Tama♀", and is scheduled to be for sale on December 3.
Source: Kazenomise

Currently, I am wondering if we will still get any songs with vocals, or if this will truly be a soundtrack (where it is made mostly out of instrumentals). As far as I know, OST 1 and 2 have already covered all the tracks in the anime, so perhaps we can expect something new (or perhaps remixes) from OST3? It would be fantastic if we could hear more of May'n and Megumi.

Anyway, enjoy some Ranka and Sheryl.

Hatsune Miku in Nokia Advertisement
So, what's so special about this advert?
Well, the concept of the advert is certainly interesting, but that's not I want to point out. When you were watching the advert, did you listen carefully to the first song? If you did, you might have recognized the voice...
Can you guess who it is?
Well, it's none other than Hatsune Miku! ^^
The advert is Chinese (though I first saw the English ver), but it's a Japanese song. The song is specially made for the advert, so, unfortunately, it might be hard (or impossible) to find an mp3 of it.
The phone being advertised is the Nokia 5310.
When I first saw the ad on TV, I was all, "Wait.. ZOMG IS THAT MIKU I HEAR?!" ^^;
BTW- if you liked the ad, there's also another one like it, but without any Miku-goodness in it. Check that other ad out here.
EDIT: Okay. I shall be honest about this- I have no solid proof that it's Miku, but a lot of people agree that it's her. But, whether you believe it's Miku or not, it's up to you to decide. ^^

Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA-

I must be the last otaku to post about this..
「Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA-」 is a rhythm game that's currently in development. This game, created by SEGA, is to be released on the PSP in 2009.
Trailer below.
Gameplay example below.
An interesting feature of this game is the room customization. As you play, you can get points and customize Miku's room. The game will (of course,) feature music made using Vocaloid 2.

So, how many of you are looking forward to this? ^^ I don't have a PSP, but I will play this game *somehow*. XD

Code Geass R2 - 2nd OP Single

「WORLD END」 is the second Code Geass R2 opening song, and is done by FLOW, the same group that did 「COLORS」 (Code Geass' first opening song).
The song starts out nice and mild, but quickly transits to a faster pace. The song flows (no pun intended) nicely, and at 2:22 to 2:31, where there's a nice bass solo. The vocals are good, but it distracts from the instruments, which is sad, because the instrumental of this song is beautiful. Still a great song, nonetheless.
Included with the single was this book. Inside, there are sketches of some characters, some Knightmares, and, "the original picture of opening movie".This is actually a maxi single, so there are two more songs that came with 「WORLD END」.
The first song, 「LEATHER FACE」 is a much louder song than 「WORLD END」. The electric guitar has a very strong presence in this song. There is some vocal distortion towards the beginning of the song, but this disappears when the song reaches the chorus. A nice touch.

The second song, 「I WILL」, contrasts highly with 「WORLD END」 and 「LEATHER FACE」. It's a mild song, and sounds very... Japanese boy band. ^^; The acoustic guitar is the main instrument here.
It's a nice song, but not very memorable.

Here's the PV for 「WORLD END」.

Avril Lavigne Concert Cancelled
Avril Lavigne was supposed to have a concert down here in Malaysia on August 29th. But yesterday, this came out in the Star newspaper.
Full article here.KUALA LUMPUR: The Avril Lavigne concert in Stadium Merdeka, here, on Aug 29 has been cancelled.
Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Shafie Apdal said that the concert falls during the nation's independence period and was not a suitable time to hold such a concert.
There are a lot of events on Aug 29 and the Ministry does not want the independence and the near Ramadan month to be filled with such pop and rock culture, he said.
And then there's this from the Malaysian Insider.
First shounen ai, then figures, and now this? I'm no fan of Avril, but this censorship bothers me.The decision came after the youth wing of a fundamentalist opposition party, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (Pas), called for the show's cancellation.
Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, said yesterday that Lavigne's show was "considered too sexy for us" and would promote the wrong values just before Merdeka.
I think, "...would promote the wrong values just before Merdeka," is a weak excuse, but I could be biased.
What do you think about this?

Macross Frontier Ranka Lee Debut Single
Ranka-chan has made her debut! ^^Her single, 「星間飛行」 (Seikan Hikou) is fantastic! It's upbeat, and carries a happy mood. Just hearing Ranka sing this song makes me want to dance! A great song to pump up your day.
Romaji lyrics with English translation here.
The next song, 「ねこ日記」 (Neko Nikki [Anyone else thinking Kyouran Kazoku..?]), is a rather cute song. It has a slow tune, but manages to maintain a happy mood. It's just a simple love song, but it manages to capture me.
Romaji lyrics with English translation over here.
Followed by that is 「愛·おぼえていますか -デカルチャーエディショんsize―」 (Ai Oboete Imasuka -Deculture Edition Size-). This is a slow song, but at 1:34, the song goes into a pause, then at 1:37, Ranka resumes singing with an extra voice effect. IMO, this kinda interrupts the flow of the song, but nonetheless, it's still a nice song.
Romaji lyrics with English translation over here.
The last one - 「私の彼はパイロッと」 (Watashi no kare wa pairotto). I've waited for this song for too long ^^; It's my personal favorite, and it doesn't disappoint. It doesn't differ much from the version you heard in episode 4, but this doesn't have the battle effects and people talking in-between.
Romaji lyrics here.
「星間飛行」 below.
Almost forgot- the real singer is Nakajima Megumi.
Ranka Lee, FTW!

Otaku Stores in Malaysia 3 - Anime·Tech
Today, it's Anime·Tech, which I've mentioned a few times before.
They sell lots of anime-related stuff, such as these figures and plushies. Took the following picture when the sun was out and shining through the (glass) roof. Coincidentally, most of the light is focused on the Bishoujo figure shelf ^^;

More figures-

Lots of books. I'm not too sure, but I think these are artwork books? Some correct me if I'm wrong.

Code Geass stuffs.

I usually get my accessories from this place. However, sometimes the accessories can get to be quite crap, like this Lucky Star one here:

Other goods you can find in Anime·Tech are OSTs, singles,
Overall, I'd say their stuff is pretty overpriced, and you should avoid buying stuff from here, especially figures. If it's figures you're looking for, you should try the XL-shop instead. The most worthwhile thing you can get from this place, IMO, is the accessories.

Wagaya no Oinari-sama - ED Single
Honestly, I don't know what to say about 「風がなにかを言おうとしている」 (Kaze ga nanika wo Iou to Shiteiru). Sung by Hayami Saori, it's a nice, simple song. But I have to say, the title a little long and hard-to-remember.
The other song, 「MIRACLE WAY ~強く優しく護られて~」 is also fantastic.
Hmm.. I don't quite know what else to say ^^; Me needs to work on describing songs. Anyone have tips on how to do that?

Code Geass R2 - OP Single
「O2」 by Orange Range was one of the OPs I was anticipating, but I'm a little disappointed with the single. The "full version" of 「O2」 just doesn't quite deliver.. At some parts, their voices are too soft, just like this OP single. At least the MV is entertaining.. ^^;
The other songs, 「春紫苑」 (Harushion), and 「世界ワールドウチナーンチュ紀行」 (Sekai World Uchinaanchu Kikou), are FAIL, IMO. 「春紫苑」 just sounds gay, while 「世界ワールドウチナーンチュ紀行」 is eight minutes worth of techno beats.
「O2」 MV below.
